The special textile structure and material combination of the Lascara® fitted sheet ensure fewer points of contact between the sheet and the skin of bedridden patients. The sheet's special surface structure prevents shear forces and significantly reduces pressure points. Furthermore, the material has a cooling effect and prevents perspiration. Thanks to the special fabric, movement is facilitated, significantly improving lying comfort. The lower friction resistance also simplifies patient handling. The Lascara® fitted sheet is used as a preventative measure for Category I pressure ulcers. In conjunction with pressure relief measures, it can also be used for Category II pressure ulcers.

A decubitus ulcer (also known as a pressure ulcer or bedsore) is a localized injury to the skin and/or the underlying tissue. These injuries can be caused by prolonged pressure, often as a result of lying in the same position for an extended period of time.

The advantages of an anti-decubitus bed sheet compared to an anti-decubitus mattress:


An anti-decubitus bed sheet and an anti-decubitus mattress pursue the same goal – pressure relief to prevent pressure ulcers – but differ significantly in their effectiveness, application, and cost. Here are the main advantages of a bed sheet compared to a mattress :

1. Cheaper to purchase

A special bed sheet with a sliding or pressure-relieving function costs significantly less than a full-fledged mattress or alternating pressure systems.

2. Easy handling

  • Easy to attach, just like a normal lake.
  • No electricity, no motor, no pumps
  • It can be changed or washed quickly.

Especially practical in home care.

3. A good addition for mobile people

Sheets are well suited for:

  • low-risk patients
  • People who are still partially able to move on their own
  • Situations where only slight pressure relief is needed

A mattress often provides more relief, but is not always necessary for these people.

    Thanks to the sheet’s excellent gliding properties, shear forces (friction between skin layers) are reduced. For Lascara®, a static friction coefficient of 0.32 was determined. Compared to a standard sheet, this value is relatively low, indicating effective decubitus prophylaxis.

    For protection against decubitus, good air circulation around the vulnerable parts of the body is essential. Any sweat that develops must be effectively wicked away to prevent moisture build-up. The cooling properties of the material help to significantly reduce perspiration.

    The smooth surface makes it easier for patients to move independently in bed. Shifting of the skin layers is significantly reduced.

"Parallel to the development of the fitted sheets for anti-decubitus prevention by the company Delius, several seniors in our facility had the opportunity to test the alternative comfort during an initial trial period lasting several weeks. In addition to the purely qualitative aspects of feel and appearance, the product proved particularly convincing with regard to the users’ sleep quality. Beyond its prophylactic effect in preventing skin damage, the residents reported a pleasantly cooling sensation and could imagine using the Delius fitted sheet long-term – not only from the perspective of prevention.
